Watch the Eagle Ford Impact Study Launch

On May 9, the University of Texas San Antonio hosted a lunch briefing event to release the results of its highly-anticipated study, “Economic Impact of the Eagle Ford Shale.” This new baseline study assesses economic impacts of the shale realized in 2011, and depicts the rapidly evolving business activity in the play as one of the biggest new drivers of growth in Texas.

Dr. Thomas Tunstall and Robert McKinley, Directors of the Center for Community and Business Research at UTSA’s Institute for Economic Development, presented the study’s findings, related business activity and economic impacts. Local and state leaders, including San Antonio’s Mayor Julián Castro, also discussed their vision for the region’s human and community impacts.
